These stickers promote the 1981 Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), which took place in central London on 24 October. More than a quarter of a million people participated in the march protesting over the placement of US nuclear missiles at military in the UK. The march culminated in a gathering in Hyde Park with speakers including Labour Party leader Michael Foot, and MP Tony Benn.
The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) is an organisation which campaigns for the UK to disarm and dispose of their nuclear weapons. They also campaign for international nuclear disarmament, and oppose the building of nuclear power stations in the UK, and oppose the use of chemical or biological weapons in wars. CND was founded in 1957 and is Europe's largest peace campaign. Their membership peaked in the 1980s at around a hundred thousand people, though many non-members also attend their protests.
