Description
Frightened miniature workers are being swept down a sewer grating. 'Are You Going To Vote Yourself Out Of A Job? Or will you vote to get Britain back to work? Think Positive. Act Positive. Vote Labour.'

By 1983, the Conservative government led by Margaret Thatcher had begun it's program of deindustrialisation, closing factories and threatening to close coal mines and steelworks, among other industrial professions. This Labour Party poster directly appeals to those workers who's jobs are being threatened by Conservative policies.

Under Michael Foot, the Labour Party fought the 1983 general election on a strongly left-wing manifesto. It was unkindly referred to by some in the party as the longest suicide note in history. The Conservatives won the election, remaining in power, and continued their policy of deindustrialisation, leading to mass unemployment.
