On this badge, the heart is light pink, and a crown over the a in Sparkle is light blue in the same shades as the transgender pride flag. This badge was created by Sparkle, the transgender pride festival for their 2013 celebration. The 2013 celebration took place in Sackville Gardens, in Manchester's Gay Village, and during the festival, the National Trans Memorial was unveiled here. The memorial was dedicated to all those who have lost their lives to transphobic violence.
Sparkle is a charity which has hosted an annual celebration in Manchester every year since 2005. Initially Sparkle's focus was for transgender women, and transvestites, but in the 2010s the festival expanded to include all transgender people. It is the longest running transgender festival in the UK.
