TRICO refers to the Trico-Folberth windscreen wipers factory in Brentford, London where in 1976 women went on strike for equal pay. The women were members of the Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers, and their 21-week strike was successful and their pay was raised to be equal with their male colleagues. The strike was supported by the Working Women's Charter Campaign. The charter was originally drawn up by the London Trades Council in 1974, but was given force by local charter campaign groups established around the country.
