Description
Circular black badge featuring a lamp and text reading: "UNBROKEN ALLEGIANCE TO THE N.U.M. 84 85 1 YEARS". This badge was made in 1985 to show support for the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) during the 1984-1985 miners strike. During the miners strike a rival union to the NUM was set up, the Democratic Union of Mineworkers, by miners who didn't agree with the NUMs continuation of the strike and no-ballot of its members. This badge was worn by people who remained supportive of the NUM and the strike until it was eventually called off in March 1985.
