Description
Sir Francis Burdett was revered as the champion of the Parliamentary reform debate in the years before the 1819 Peterloo Massacre.

Imprisoned in the Tower of London for contempt of Parliament, Burdett's reform programme included demands for annual parliaments, equal electoral districts and the purging of corruption from the House of Commons.

He holds a scroll with letters MAGNA CARTA.
