Description
Screenprinted poster, "They can kill our bodies but they can't kill our spirits" - Maurice Bishop" below a pop art-style portrait of Bishop, a Black man with short hair and a beard. It is a close-up portrait showing just his face and red shirt collar. The portrait background is a yellow square, on a bright green background of the poster. The text is black except "Maurice Bishop" is in bold red type. Bishop was a revolutionary activist and politician from Grenada who campaigned for true Black liberation and socioeconomic development.

This poster was made by Paddington Printshop, a community graphic design and print workshop in West London, co-founded by John Phillips and Pippa Smith. Between 1975-1991, the centre printed over 400 designs for left-wing community organisations. These publicised local political campaigns such as housing rights and food co-ops, to social gatherings including play days, gardening clubs, gigs and festivals. Their do-it-yourself style was part of the proto-punk ethos.
