Description
Sash for the Amalgamated Stevedore Labour Protection League, Branch no 5 C. A blue sash with white border stripes and silver metallic detailing. The ground fabric is warp-faced, with dyed silk warp threads and dyed blue cotton weft threads. Metallic lettering and detailing has been hand stitched to the ground fabric with white cotton thread, reading âASLPLâ with a design of two hands clasped together, âBR No 5 C.â Hand-stitched to the sash below the lettering is a 95mm x 100mm x 30mm embroidered design featuring an 8-pointed star filled with metal sequins and coiled metallic threads. A blue- and wine-colored silk dome sits in the centre which is also embroidered with coiled metallic threads. A tassel (60mm long) has been attached to the bottom point of the star which hangs freely from the design.
