Description
Many organisations from trade unions and friendly societies to temperance societies and Primrose habitations ordered banners to promote and celebrate their cause. This sales catalogue advertises banners and accessories from the banner maker Turtle and Pearce, the successor to George Tutill's banner company. The catalogue includes examples of banners, bannerettes, finials and the large banner boxes made for transporting the finished piece. Banners could be printed "on silk, on bunting or other woollen material" in a range of sizes and often featured coats of arms, biblical scenes, landscapes, workplaces or the sick worker and his family being visited by the union official.
