Description
Pre-printed postcard on cream card, declaring a protest against Japan's methods of warfare against the Chinese, and a boycott of Japanese materials and manufacturers. There is a pre-printed space for a 1/2d. (halfpenny) stamp on the front, and dotted lines for the sender to sign on the reverse. The postcard was produced in 1939 to protest the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945).

Text on the front reads:

"1/2d. Stamp

HIS EXCELLENCY SHIGERU YOSHIDA, K.C.V.O.,
THE JAPANESE EMBASSY,
37, PORTMAN SQUARE,
LONDON, W.I."

On the reverse, text reads:

"His Excellency Shigeru Yoshida, K.C.V.O.,
The Chancery of the Japanese Embassy
37, Portman Square, W.1.

YOUR EXCELLENCY,
I desire to protest against the continual infringement of International Law by the Japanese Government, and to express my personal feelings of profound horror at the barbaric methods of warfare that are being pursued in its aggression against the Chinese people.
In furtherance of this protest, I hereby pledge myself not to purchase any form of Japanese materials or manufacturers.
