Description
The central image depicts a portrait of a miner wearing a helmet. Around him in red are the words 'Wanted. A Living Wage.'

In 1972 the National Union of Mineworkers went on strike after pay negotiations broke down. It was the first national coal strike for fifty years. The 1972 national strike and another two years later, led ultimately to the fall of Conservative government in 1974. Posters like this rallied a large amount of public sympathy for the mineworkers.
