The John Gorman Collection, acquired in 1998, consists of: banners, 12; Tutills sales catalogues, 4; T&P sales catalogue, 1; trade union emblems, 12, framed and glazed; Tutill's glass-plate negatives of banner painted centre panels*, 216; glass-plate negatives and lantern slides of Miners galas etc, 47; lantern slides, various labour history subjects, 31.
Photographs, large quantities: Miners galas; rallies; marches; demonstrations; Banner Bright exhibition; Tutills banner making and painting (these images are in John Gorman's book Banner Bright); banner portraits; photoprints from these glass-plate negatives *, Tutill banner painted centre panels, over 200.
Slides and transparencies of banners and other labour history objects and memorabilia, and negatives, large quantities: many of these objects and images are in John Gorman's three books: Banner Bright, Images Of Labour, To Build Jerusalem. Includes many slides of Walter Crane cartoons and designs, most not in our collection.
John Gorman's research files: seven. Also: letters, memories of and comments on the 1926 General Strike, mostly from volunteers, to John Gorman in 1976.
