Large poster with an image of a building with pillars, and a flag in the middle of the poster. The title reads "To the glorious fighters of the International Brigade. Spain 1936-1939. Roll of honour." International Brigade flag drawn at centre with an image of a star and a raised fist.
There are names and dates written on the pillars - this is to honor people who died fighting during the Spanish Civil War. There is a quote at the bottom which reads, "Man's dearest possession is life: and since it is given to him to live but once, he must so live - that dying, he can say "all my life and all my strength were given to the finest cause in the world - the liberation of mankind"...Ostraevesky."
The International Brigades (Spanish: Brigadas Internacionales) were military units set up by the Communist International to assist the Popular Front government of the Second Spanish Republic during the Spanish Civil War. The organization existed for two years, from 1936 until 1938. It is estimated that during the entire war, between 40,000 and 59,000 members served in the International Brigades, including some 10,000 who died in combat.
