Description
The first major military conflict of World War II was in Communist Russia, following Hitler's massive invasion of Russia in 1941. The Communist Party of Great Britain produced a wide range of stickers, ephemera and posters in their campaign to get the Allied forces to attack and defeat Hitler in Europe, to open what was called a Second Front, to aid Russia and the other European countries under the nazi tyranny. The British Communist Party had an active membership in Manchester and Lancashire.

Belle Vue in Manchester, with its large public spaces, was by the 1939 one of the major tourist attractions in the North West of England and had large meeting space.
