This print features (from left to right) portraits of John Wilkes, the Earl of Bute and William Hogarth, who were all involved in a public dispute. Each image features an acrostic poem made from their surnames. Wilkes holds copies of radical magazine North Briton, the thistles above Bute show that he is a Scottish aristocrat and Hogarth is sketching the Earl of Bute.
