Description
Poster for a matinee performance of 'All Gods Chillun Got Wings' featuring a printed image of Paul Robeson and Flora Robson, black and green. The performance is in aid of the German Relief Fund.

This is original poster art work which was printed and distrubted in order to promote an event raising money for the German Relief Fund. Paul Robeson was a Black American communist actor, singer, and political thinker. He lived in London for several years as an actor, where he was the first Black man in the modern era to play Othello. He participated in many mutual aid concerts during his career, including this performance in aid of the German Relief Fund.

Robeson was persecuted for his socialist and communist political beliefs in the United States after he and William Patterson delivered a petition titled "We Charge Genocide" to the United Nations in 1951 charging the United States with anti-Black genocide. British socialists that Robeson had previously supported in turn provided mutual aid to him.
