A blue banner with a white central rectangle holding text, an image of a right arm raised holding a hammer extends from a ribbon with the Co-operative Smiths motto 'By All Arts Do Stand'. Under the union name is the text 'A voice from the forge'.

This banner is important because very few from this period survive. This is largely due to banner maker George Tuthill's dominance of the banner market during this era. Banners made by his studio had an intentionally limited life span, so the groups that purchased them would have to buy from him again in the future when they wore out. Unfortunately that means very few have survived to become part of museum collections in the modern era. meanin.
