Description
'Home Front' was produced by the Communist Party of Great Britain from 1942 to 1944. It was an odd mixture of politics, history, industrial reports, war reporting, and recipes. Its aim was to reflect the role of women in wartime as well as to inform people about Communist Party ideas. This issue is from January 1944. The front cover shows William Beveridge, whose Beveridge Report paved the way for the modern Welfare state. As it had only recently been published and was the subject of much political debate, much of this issue of 'Home Front' was devoted to it.
