The Rickard Sisters, Scarlett and Sophie, are graphic novelists from the Ribble Valley in Lancashire. Scarlett is an illustrator and graphic artist now living in Kent, while Sophie is a writer living in Cheshire. They take inspiration from working class stories and lived experiences to create authentic works of fiction told through their signature artwork.
Best known for their graphic adaptations of Robert Tressell’s The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists and Constance Maud’s suffrage classic No Surrender, in both books the Rickard Sisters explore stories of living within a system designed by and for others. They are currently finalising their next book, This Slavery, a graphic telling of a novel by Lancashire millworker and best selling author Ethel Carnie Holdsworth.
Join the Rickard Sisters for an insightful talk about their incredible career. They will share experiences of their journey, their process and anecdotes from their past and upcoming work.
Scarlett and Sophie will take part in a book signing at the end of the session – purchase your copies in PHM Shop!
