Visit Deceptioncon, a robot costume made by GMB union members for their Black Friday 2023 strike action at Amazon’s BHX4 warehouse in Coventry.
This was one of several strikes in 2023 by Amazon workers demanding better working conditions and pay.
The robot costume was worn on the picket line by GMB member Stuart:
“The robot costume symbolises the feelings of the workers where they felt like they were being treated like robots. This led to the slogan of the campaign becoming ‘we are not robots’.”
GMB members were joined on the picket line by workers from trade unions in the USA, Italy, and Germany.
