The Music is Hope guitar is on display at the museum as part of the city-wide art trail, Music for the Senses. It has inspired some free Family Friendly activities that will take place at PHM during the summer holidays.
The guitar has been decorated by artist and illustrator Ella Masters, with the design inspired by her autistic three year old daughter Winnie’s love of music and the connections that it gives her, when words can be hard to come by.
You’ll see the guitar in the welcome area of the museum, then head over to the Playful Protest Space where younger children will be able to do a colouring activity that Ella has created and for older children there is the chance to enter a design competition to decorate a guitar from your own imagination, with Ella set to pick a winner at the end of the summer holidays.
The prize for the winning guitar design includes a PHM pencil, eraser, colouring pencil tube, notepad, yoyo and penguin soft toy. T&Cs apply.
Suitable for children aged 3+
