People’s History Museum (PHM), the national museum of democracy based in Manchester are pleased to advertise the formal tender of the museum’s catering provision and invite submissions from suitably qualified, enterprising and experienced caterers. This is an exciting opportunity to provide the catering at a high profile, city centre visitor attraction.
The museum is funded by Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation and Greater Manchester Combined Authorities. PHM is a registered charity, overseen by a Board of Trustees who are responsible for the strategic direction of the museum. Welcoming 125,000 visitors a year, admission to PHM is free and the museum currently holds a rating of 4.5 on TripAdvisor, where it is listed in the ‘Top 10 things to do’ in Manchester.
PHM tells the story of the development of democracy in Britain: past, present, and future. The museum provides opportunities for all people to learn about, be inspired by and get involved in ideas worth fighting for; ideas such as equality, social justice, co-operation, and a fair world for all. A favourite with families, event organisers and tourists, the museum’s dynamic offer features two permanent galleries, a powerful programme exploring annual themes through onsite and online events and award winning exhibitions, an internationally significant archive collection, specialist conservation service and a unique gift shop.
PHM will work in partnership with the successful caterer to provide an exceptional visitor experience, and to support the future development of the museum’s catering offer. We are particularly keen to hear from caterers bringing passion, enthusiasm and innovation. This opportunity offers an exciting proposition for caterers who share the museum’s values and mission. We envisage that the opportunity may suit established caterers looking for their next challenge and development prospect.
The contract basis is likely to be a minimum of three years with a two year extension opportunity, however there is room for negotiation on contract terms, so proposals are welcome. Guidelines on the financial expectations are provided in the full tender information pack.
