Curating Peterloo

How do you curate an exhibition with very few surviving objects?  Join Jenny Mabbott, PHM’s Head of Collections & Engagement, in the Manchester Cathedral Library as she shares how the team at People’s History Museum developed the exhibition and reflects on its legacy.

Includes the screening of a short film commissioned especially for the exhibition and which brought to life the story of Peterloo, protest and the road to democratic reform

Writing Peterloo: An Erasure Poetry Workshop

Thurs 14 August 2025, 12.00pm

In this interactive workshop with Manchester Cathedral’s writer-in-residence Tom Branfoot we will create poems using witness statements from Peterloo and consider how archival documents can provide a new way into historical events, unearthing emotions, details and language often obscured from the authoritative version.
