This month we will be reading Respectable: Crossing the Class Divide by Lynsey Hanley.
About the book: Lynsey Hanley grew up part of the ‘respectable working class’. At university, she discovered that social mobility is not all it seems. This book is about what it means to cross class divides, what we leave behind in order to get on, and how class affects all of us today.
Don’t worry if you don’t get chance to read the book, we’ll be using it as a starting point to discuss themes such as British society, class and social mobility.
