The 1984 to 1985 Miners’ Strike raised the importance of, amongst other things, community and solidarity. For Mental Health Awareness Week 2024, we will be exploring how solidarity and community can help support mental health, especially when campaigning or taking strike action.
Craftivism is a term used to describe activism that employs the slow-making methods of craft, often using textiles. It is a process of making that allows for contemplation, resilience building, and strategy, and is about collective empowerment.
In this workshop we will be using craftivist methods to create a collective message in textiles, inspired by the Miners’ Strike.
