Join this creative workshop for some stitching, chatting, and sharing inspired by the museum’s collections.
Explore the connections between migration and textiles, and the ways in which textiles can represent people, movement and culture.
We will make three-dimensional (3D) orange hearts with stitched messages of welcome and hope for Afghan refugees who are spending their first winter in the UK.
These messages will be shared with the Refugee Council as part of their campaign, ‘Write your message of hope.’
We will continue to make the 3D hearts in our online workshop on Sat 29 January 2022. You can attend one or both of these workshops; our accompanying resource will support you to continue making in your home setting.
Download the accompanying resource to find out more and gather materials and equipment to use in the session.
All textile abilities welcome, suitable for 11+ (under 18s must have an accompanying adult present during session)
Part of PHM’s programme exploring migration, co-created by a Community Programme Team made up of people whose lives have been shaped by migration.
