We will take inspiration from the arpilleras of Chile; quilted, appliquéd, and embroidered squares documenting the everyday lives of women living under the Chilean dictatorship following the country’s military coup of 1973.
To connect with UK Disability History Month (16 November – 16 December 2023), we will use the idea of the arpilleras as a newspaper, to document the stories of disability discrimination in Britain.
